This week, we are presenting a selection of five books focusing on the Madoff scandal.
Bernard L. Madoff confessed to having engineered the biggest Ponzi-scheme in history in December 2008 and died in prison two years ago this month.
But the bankruptcy proceedings are still ongoing and victims are still suffering the impact of the fraud. New books and documentaries keep coming out every year. Here is our selection as of April 2023:
- Madoff Talks, by Jim Campbell : one of the most recent account, based on interviews with Madoff. A lot of the books revelations was used in the latest Netflix Documentary sensationally titled Madoff, the Monster of Wallstreet
- The Wizard of Lies, by Diana B. Henriques, adapted into an HBO movie with Robert Deniro as Madoff
- The End of Normal, by Stephanie Madoff Mack, widow of one of Madoff’s sons
- Madoff with the Money, by Jerry Oppenheimer, focusing on the “affinity” aspect of the fraud
- Ponzi’s Scheme, by Mitchel Zuckoff: more than a century ago, a larger-than-life Italian immigrant gave his name to the pyramid scheme used by Madoff
Other Madoff-related books are also listed in our selection of books by convicted white-collar criminals, and by whistleblowers.
